Hillary Clinton shows how to re-position using contrarian actions

Repositioning is not just about messaging, it’s about direct, substantive action.

What’s behind Hillary’s complimenting of Bush?  Maybe a great strategy for repositioning herself as a non-partisan politician.

Hillary is traditionally seen as partisan but with her eye on a big prize (the White House) she may be better served by being seen as someone who can work with both parties.  This means shedding her reputation as  a highly partisan politician (mostly a rep built in the Clinton administration).

Sure, she could go the Bush route and just say she will bring more civility in Washington, or she could go further and actually act that way.  And what a better way to send a message than to act that way with what many see as the point of partisanship – the White House.

Lesson to corporate communications departments: If you want to establish a position, don’t just say it.  Act it.  And in a big way.
